57.6KG Giant Grouper Wins MIDSFT/2014 Tournament At Miri


MIRI: The 8th Miri City International Deep Sea Fishing Tournament (MIDSFT) proves Luconia Shoals off Miri is the home of many species of big and popular sport fish.

Anglers from China Fu Yi Qi, emerged the champion in the tournament by landing a giant Grouper that tipped the scale at 57.62kg and won cash price of RM12,000.

Another anglers Chia Kay Hang landed a Giant Trevally that weighed 41.18kg to come in second place.

Apart of Grouper and Trevally, the participants in this year’s MIDSFT also caught a good number of Amberjack, Snappers, Jobfish, Barracuda, Escolar and a variety of sharks like in the previous year’s tournament.

The largest fish that had been caught and won the top spot for the past three years since 2012 is incidentally the giant Grouper which gave the participants a good fight due to its massive size and weight.
