9TH International Deep Sea Fishing Tournament @2015

Participants for the 9th International Deep Sea Fishing Tournament on April 23 to 26 are urged to register early.

The tournament, organised by Miri Anglers Club (MAC), will take place at the world-class sport fishing destination, the Luconia Shoal, in the South China Sea.

Spokesman for the organisers said early registration would give participants ample time to arrange for boat rental.

He said this year’s tournament is special as they had introduced a new Fish Species Category in which the contest is based on different species of fish caught.

The Fish Species Category will have six winners; one for each species, namely Ruby, Snapper, Amber Jack, Grouper, Tuna and Mangrove Jack. One who catches the biggest of each type of the fish wins, said the spokesperson.

There are over RM42,000 worth of prizes to be given out in the form of cash and fishing equipment.

Participants will depart from the Marina Bay Wharf on April 23 to the fishing destination and will return to Marina Bay Wharf on April 26 where their catch will be weighed and judged.

There will be three categories of the tournament including the Fish Species Category mentioned.
